The Path of Hermès—the only chronicle of the maison to have ever been written—was the brainchild of Jean-Louis Dumas, former chairman (fifth-generation member of the founding family) of Hermès. It is a singular work of manga—one of Japan’s most iconic forms of media—published in 1997.
Since being founded as a saddlery in 1837 by Thierry Hermès, the maison has maintained a crafting culture based on artisanship and has continued to value everyone involved in that culture.
The following is an excerpt from “The Story About Drawing Scarves”, a chapter in the manga.
For September, we’ve installed a photo booth at Ginza Maison Hermès that will superimpose you onto a panel of the manga—making you a part of Hermès history!
